At 16 months Andrew...
- weighs over 29 lbs and is around 33 inches (and I may be slightly under-exaggerating)
- size 5 diaps (day and night)
- all 18-24 month clothes.. some brands are super big while others fit perfectly. Jammies are getting snug though so I wouldn't be surprised if he's in 2T by the new year.
- 5.5ish size shoe.. really depends on the brand!
- drinks anywhere from 18-28oz of milk a day - still wants it warmed up!
- eating great and getting less picky! Still usually has the same foods but will try others now and willingly eat some things we have for dinner. Tried artichokes one night and scarfed them down! Also, thanks to Halloween, he is a fan of chocolate - just like Mommy!
- naps are getting weird again... 1 isn't enough but 2 is too many... so some days he takes a morning nap for just over an hour and that's it - not my favorite as he gets super cranky! Other days it's a solid 2 naps... My favorite is if he can hold off on the morning nap and not go down til 12. That's perfect but he often cannot stay awake in the morning!
- night sleep remains unchanged, however, if he only has one nap he falls asleep at night SUPER quick.
- still really not talking. He "says" tons of things, most of which are not real words but I really think he's trying. "DAAAAAAAAAA!" Is his new one.. it's different sounding and he points at something when he says it so I think it's "That!" or possibly as a question.
- loves to "hoot" like an owl.. it's hilarious!
- SUPER smart. I call him "quiet smart" because he doesn't show it off. I probably wouldn't know just how smart he is if I wasn't so observant and stare at him all the time. LOL For example, he'll go to the bathroom closet and pull out the scale and stand on it. He knows we stand on it to weigh ourselves (never taught him this). He does lots of things that he sees us do even if we didn't teach him.
- he'll point to or go get anything you ask him (as long as he knows what it is!)
- loves anything that's not a real toy - containers, milk jugs, straws, junk mail, usb cords (yeah, I watch him closely)
- RUNS! He is so darn fast. The kid was a speed crawler and now he just walks as fast as he possibly can, which actually looks like running.
- is obsessed with the pantry in our kitchen. He loves to take out the spice containers and put them back on the rack - over and over.
- can open doors. We have the handles that pull down and he's mastered that quiet easily.
- will go into his room alone and shut the door. He'll either scream for me to come get him (even though he can open the door) or just want to play in there by himself. If I open the door and he doesn't want me to, he'll laugh and slam it in my face. LOL
- loves to wake up Daddy in the morning. As soon as he's dressed I say, "where's Daddy?" and he'll smile and run to our bedroom. So cute!
- loves the song, "Knee Deep" by Zac Brown Band. I sing it to him all the time and he smiles and dances.
- speaking of dancing... he'll only dance with either his hands or legs separately.. meaning he'll sway his hands back and forth while standing still or bop up and down while his arms are at his side. I joke that he has his Daddy's rhythm (or lack there of). :)
- loves to be chased around and tickled
- LOVES our dog, Lucy. He tortures the poor thing but he doesn't really mean to. He really loves her and wants to hug and touch her all the time and doesn't realize he's tugging her hair or pinching her. Lucy is really good but will growl at him, which he thinks is funny.
- has started sitting in his foldable chair ALL.THE.TIME. We say, "Andrew, go sit!" and he runs to that chair and ONLY that chair. Although one time last week he though it was hysterical to sit in his race car track toy. Oh, that boy!
- still constantly points at pictures and loves when you name who's in them.
- his blanket is becoming more and more popular. We leave it in his crib but he'll pull it out through the slats and carry it all around. He loves to shove it in his mouth and put it over his (or our) head and "hide"
- the "other" molar I mentioned in the 15 month update came through along with 2 more bottom teeth! That's 4 teeth in just over a month - two of them molars!
- still obsessed with being outside... he melts down when we take him inside.
- pulls hats off our our heads - mostly Corey's
- will loudly say "AHHHHHH!" and come run and give you a big hug. So cute that I often initiate it.
- loves to run with his eyes closed - has resulted in lots of bumps and bruises.
